The American Superyacht Forum: Back Where it Belongs...
One of the biggest events in the American superyacht industry’s calendar, the American Superyacht Forum, is now just two weeks away. The three-day forum, which will be held at the Hilton Marina in Fort Lauderdale, runs from 16 to 18 May.
Hosted by The Yacht Report Group, and organised by Superyacht Events, The American Superyacht Forum is a three-day conference involving around 300 industry decision makers and influencers including shipyard managers, designers, captains, bankers, brokers and lawyers.
Keynote speeches and workshops are tightly packed into the forum programme each addressing the major issues affecting the American superyacht industry today. Highlights include ‘Writing a Business Plan for America’, the second opening speech which analyses where the industry is heading and sets targets to improve it for the future. A large percentage of superyacht owners are American yet go elsewhere for their superyachts – this problem is addressed by a panel of captains and project managers on day three, looking at how the US can rebuild market perception and at the differences between European and US shipyards. Delegates will also gain invaluable access to information from Superyacht Intelligence, such as statistics, fleet figures and order numbers for the US market. Bullet Workshops include: Marketing & Communication, America’s Cup 2013, Green Issues, the Charter Market and many others.
Chairman of The Yacht Report Group, Martin Redmayne, commented:
‘After years of hosting the American Superyacht Forum at a fine selection of yachting hubs throughout America we have decided to bring the event to the home of American yachting, Fort Lauderdale. This will enable us to scale up the event, with increased attendance, fantastic and original networking opportunities and excellent conference programming. ASF promises to deliver the best meeting place for the most influential gathering of superyacht players, all of whom have the American market at the heart of their business plan’.
Concluding the three-day event is a deep sea sport-fishing tournament in which delegates can participate. Delegates will also have numerous opportunities to network and make valuable business contacts throughout the forum.
Organisers are also planning for two superyachts to be on display at the forum. Further details are yet to be announced.
PALM BEACH BOAT SHOW UP IN VOLUME AND IMPACT
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - According to the Palm Beach County Convention and Visitors Bureau, events like the annual Palm Beach Boat Show bring upwards of 50,000 visitors each year, filling more than 14,000 Palm Beach County hotel rooms as well.
Those numbers are expected to increase this year.
"The show is up in volume so we've got more boats, more exhibit space sold. There's an upbeat in the marine industry, people are looking forward to the show," said Andrew Doole, the Senior Vice President and COO of Show Management, the Boat Show's sponsors.
The 26th Annual Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 24 - 27, 2011, is one of the top ten boat shows in the country - featuring more than $350 million worth of boats, yachts and accessories from the world’s leading marine manufacturers. It is truly an International Show. The event includes hundreds of Boats from 8 foot inflatables, power boats, fishing boats, center consoles, bow riders, personal watercraft to superyachts over 150’. This is according to Show Management, organizers of the event.
Add to this, the Palm Beach International Film Festival, (which runs from March 23 to 31), and the total number of visitors to the county during this time, could well be in excess of 52, 000 visitors. This can only mean good things for the local economy - especially family owned / managed vendors in the marine industry.
Here's what one local legend has to say about why local events and the arts will always thrive.
"In a bad economy, people want to go to movies and forget their troubles. They want to go to the theater. The magic of theater thrives," said Burt Reynolds, an Oscar-nominated Actor and Palm Beach County resident (Vince Norman, Channel 5 News).
